JissoJi Zen Ann Arbor

Nurturing the Soul Through Movement

JissoJi Zen Ann Arbor is a Zen meditation group in the tradition of Shunryu Suzuki (founder of the San Francisco Zen Center and author of Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind). Our Zazen –Zen meditation– is held at the Center for Sacred Living (210 Little Lake Drive, Suite 7, Ann Arbor, MI 48103) and online via Zoom. We sit every Sunday 10:00am – 11:40am, followed by a short service and informal check-in. The sutra book we use can be found on the SFZC website. JissoJi Zen Ann Arbor follows a Japanese Soto Zen lineage, the American practices originate in the San Francisco Zen Center. All are welcome, no prior experience necessary. Orientation & Introduction to Zen meditation and Zendo forms are available on fourth Sunday of each month from 10:00am

Elena's classes are the highlight of my week. Her voice is incredibly soothing, and she has a way of really making the most challenging poses feel accessible and purposeful.

I started as a complete beginner. Elena's patience and precise adjustments helped me build a practice from the ground up — the studio vibe is unmatched.
