In an INSTANT, our understanding of health got a whole lot more “holistic.”
Suddenly, health was more than just “not being fat.” It incorporated your general happiness, your blood profile, and a whole range of other saturation factors.
I know that I needed someone to talk all of these feelings through with.
In clinical practice, I deal with a wide range of people from both the general population and the athletic population.
And it has become increasingly clear to me that a much broader interpretation of “mental health” is needed. That is, people are not going crazy, but they certainly display symptoms of both chronic and acute anxiety, depression, and other common “negative” mental health disorders.
But people (sadly) don’t know who to turn to for this. They continue to struggle on with either body-embedded symptoms or (worse) they turn to pharmaceuticals, alcohol, or some other maladaptive source.
Enter the rise of wellness and “fitness” coaches (that’s where this post is going … ha-ha).

Go to a class, a seminar, a workshop, etc. Be around other people. Talk about your lives and what you do. It’s so great to hear about other people’s lives.
Hearing about other healing modalities. These kinds of tags go along with the first. In that, finding a new “way” of doing something might lead you to a new way of feeling good and taking care of yourself. It’s about finding the things that make sense to you, in particular. One person may practice sound therapy, and that interests you, for example. But you would have never known that if you weren’t “shopping around” in the different types of healing. Browsing online (especially now) is relatively easy. It’s the way people are heading. There are many playlists out there, so to speak, about metaphysical subjects and healing in general.
